Kairi - Kingdom Hearts CH2

Sora sighed, kicking at a rock on the beach, frowning. "..." Why does Riku always toy with me like that...? He sighed again, then once more as he kicked a pebble.

"Sora!! Hey, Sora!!" Sora looked up as he just barely heard Riku's voice. It sounded... worried?

"...Riku?!" Sora ran in the direction of the non-stop voice, almost running right into him, for Riku didn't stop running when he saw him.

"Riku, what's wrong?!" Sora asked, as Riku used his hand to wipe sweat off himself.

"I found a girl washed up on the beach!" Riku explained, and Sora gasped.

"Is she OK?!" Riku turned around and started running in the direction he came from. "Hey, wait up!" Sora shouted, and ran after him.

"No time! We have to get her in your boat!" Riku shouted back.

"...Why mine?!" Sora whined loudly, starting to pant.

"Well, we need a boat to carry her in! You can hold the boats close together with a stick!" Riku stopped, and Sora ran into him, causing them both to fall over. "Hey!" Riku rolled away, and sat up. "Watch it, Sora!" Riku sighed as Sora brushed sand out of his hair.

"Where is she?" Sora questioned, worriedly.

"She's over there." Riku pointed towards the trees, and Sora looked and saw a sorta young girl laying in the brush next to a palm tree.

"I'll go set up the boats!" Sora scrambled up, nearly tripping again, and ran for the dock the two had made a few months back.

"OK! Try not to fall into the water!" Riku smirked as he said the last bit, seeing Sora shake his head as he ran off.

Riku walked over to the girl, and stared at her. A gust of wind blew by, brushing through her red hair.

"Hey, Riku!" Sora's voice came from behind him, so he turned around fully. He saw Sora had moved both of the boats over to the strip of beach by them.

"Good going, let's move her! Maybe somebody at town will recognize her..." Riku mumbled, sighing. He sure hoped somebody recognized her.

"OK, I'll help you carry her." Sora walked over, and leaned down. But then the girl's eyes snapped open.

"...?"

"Hey, Riku! She woke up!!" The boy in front of her, turned away. He then began waving his right arm like a maniac.

"Really, that's great! I was worried she-- Never mind." Riku quickly stopped himself from needlessly worrying his friend. ...Wouldn't wake up. He finished quietly in his head.

"...Where...?" The girl tried to sit up, but fall back down. She then proceeded to look around her surroundings, with a puzzled look on her face.

"Whoa, don't sit up! You washed up on the beach!" The brunette leaned down.

"...Who are you...?" The girl tried to make sense of what happened, but she couldn't remember a thing.

"...I'm Sora. He's Riku." Sora stood up and pointed at the boy who was hovering near him.

"Yeah, it's really nice to meet you. What's your name?" Riku asked, forgetting their plan with the boats.

"..." What IS my name...? She struggled to remember, but it came to her after a few seconds. "...Ka...iri." She mumbled softly.

"Kairi?" Sora asked, blinking. "That's a odd name... Where are you from?"

"...Sora, don't insult her." Riku rolled his eyes, frowning.

"...I was just saying I haven't heard her name before!" Sora looked at Riku.

"You said it was odd." Riku groaned.

"Wh-whatever!" Sora groaned, looking back at the girl. "Anyway... Where are you from? You don't live on this deserted island, right?" Sora blinked.

"I'm..." Kairi blinked trying to remember. "...I don't remember..."

Riku blinked. What happened to her? Not remembering where she lived...? Barely remembering her own name!?

"...Are you not from Destiny Islands or something?"

"Destiny... What?" Kairi blinked. "...I don't think I've ever heard of a place called that..." Kairi's worries were increasing.

"Hm... Oh, maybe... That might be it!" Sora thumped one of his hands on the palm of his other hand.

"Oh great, what genius idea have you come up with this time?" Riku shook his head, ready to laugh.

"Maybe she's from outside the Islands! Maybe she's from a whole other world out there!" Sora grinned, proudly.

"...Outside the islands? How is that even possible? I mean, nobody who tries to explore outside Destiny Islands ever comes back!" Riku sighed.

"Yeah, well maybe she came FROM the outside!" Sora explained.

"That makes even less sense!" Riku argued.

"Does too!" Sora glared.

"Does not." Riku sighed, shaking his head.

"Yes, it does!" Sora shouted.

"No, how could she be from outside the islands?" Riku smirked, "Although I don't expect you to be able to think of anything."

"Maybe she was on a boat that got shipwrecked!" Sora nodded.

"No way, we would've seen a wreckage on our way here. There's no way she could have survived from further out." Riku mumbled the last bit.

Kairi giggled, catching the two boys attention. Riku looked away, blushing.

"Well, if I don't come from... Destiny Islands, I have to come from somewhere else. Maybe Sora is right." Kairi whispered.

"Ugh..." Riku muttered, unhappily.

"Hah!" Sora grinned.

"...Whatever..." Riku sighed.

"Well... How are you going to get home? I mean nobody goes outside Destiny Islands these days..." Sora sighed.

"Yeah, people rarely leave their own islands except those traders..." Riku murmured.

"Yeah... We didn't really tell our parents we come out here..." Their faces flushed and they looked in opposite directions.

"Oh... Well, do you think somebody on your island would take me in?" Kairi asked, not worrying about never returning home... Seeing as she can't remember her home!

"OK, sure!!" Sora nodded grinning. "I'm sure we can find someone!"

"Yeah, the islanders here are pretty nice." Riku agreed.

"Great!" Kairi grinned.
